Spam attacks

Over recent days we've seen people spamming our script with comments posts containing sexual references and adverts to pharmaceutical products. We've compiled a list of IP addresses from where the attacks originate, contact us if you would like the list, you can add the IP addresses to your "deny hosts" file (or however your firewall stops specific IP addresses getting through).

Multiple Languages

We're part way through adding multi-lingual capabilities to DMANews. There are literally hundreds of files that have to be converted, but we're making good progress and have nearly passed the half way mark. Anyone who interested in doing translations should contact us using the contact form, letting us know which language you are interested in translating.

We're not committing to a release date as yet as this represents a significant overhaul of the file base, but watch the site if you want to stay posted.

IRC Channel

We're trialing an IRC channel for DMANews, simply connect using our online Java IRC client which can be found in the support menu.

Experienced IRC users can alternatively connect using the following info:

server: irc.chatspike.net
port: 6667
room: #DMANews

... if you need help please be aware that we are often away from the computers and may take some time to answer, so simply ask your question or say hello and we'll get back to you.

We've also finally got our Subversion version control server up and working, and DMANews is under it's control. Anyone interested in the idea of DMANews going GPL and working with us, please drop into the IRC channel.

Get development underway again - Sponsorship

Help to get DMANews development underway again by making a donation. Other paying jobs and the fact that we're basically pretty happy with the feature set ourselves (after all we haven't had any paying clients request the control panel in German or French yet!) has meant that DMANews development has stalled a little.

We will, however, make this promise - once we've brought in $200 worth of donations we'll complete the localisation modifications (for multiple languages throughout the script), which should in turn help to kick-start the whole development process again.

Yes you've obviously guessed it, localisation is about the most mind numbing, tedious development process imaginable.

So, think about making your way over to the donations page, all sponsors can have a graphic linked to their site added throughout DMANews.Com - all our visitors are active webmasters, many venturing into PHP/MySQL for the first time, making it an ideal place to advertise web services. All sponsor links will be displayed throughout the whole of the calendar year!

Validation

We've put some work into HTML and CSS validation in the DMANews development version, the results can be seen on this page. We've also updated our RSS news feed extension (although still in beta) which will be rolled into the next version.
